The PCSO role here in Southwold has been funded by the Town Council for the past 9 years and we have had various PCSOs during that time period.

Our present PCSO, has been offered a  permanent role within the police force and the Town Council would like to congratulate him on this and wish him well for his and his family’s future.  Anyone who has met Ben, during his three years’ service here, will have appreciated the zeal and dedication he has brought to the PCSO role; he has, indeed, been a huge asset to the Town and it is inevitable that he will be missed.

The Town Council had allocated funding for the continuation of this funded role in its budget for 2021-2022 – however the police would need to recruit to fill the vacancy – a process that would take up to six months, if not longer.

The Town Council will continue to liaise with the Police Authority on this process and seek to ensure that incident response remains unaffected by an unfortunate situation understandably beyond its control.

As usual all policing matters should be phoned through to 101 or 999 in the usual way.
