Following on from the refurbishment work SCC are now planning to install a cathodic protection system to the bridge to prevent corrosion.
The work will involve fitting large sacrificial anodes on steel frames to three of the piers – the work will be undertaken from beneath the bridge from pontoons and the bridge will remain open to pedestrians.
Due to the works being particularly sensitive to tides contractors will be working within daylight hours to maximise the working times and work will be undertaken 7 days a week including bank holidays.
Work is due start on Tuesday 2nd May and it is anticipated to be completed by the end of May 2023.
