Southwold Town Council and the Southwold Common Trust Charity have been awarded a grant of £2,995 from the Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Sustainable Development Fund.
This (second) grant is intended to support project delivery and installation of a new timber ‘Jubilee’ footbridge by the Southwold Marshes & Common, along Sandlings Walk. The footbridge will create a new connection to Sandlings Walk along the
Coastal Path, and continues from the first restoration project carried out in 2021/2022 within the adjacent area known as Waters Copse.
Project outputs include improved access, safety and biodiversity optimisation in conjunction with recreational use. Continued green space improvements of the area will be delivered by project professional and volunteers and will be completed by winter 2023.
