Coastal Partnership East are part of East Suffolk Council (ESC) and are responsible for coastal management. They have contracted J T Mackley & Co Ltd to complete repairs to the Southwold Harbour entrance North Pier Fender owned and managed by ESC. Work is due to start on 19th July 2021 and be completed by the end of August. All work and its duration is subject to safe working conditions i.e. tide and weather dependent. We are completing these works during summer months in an effort to avoid adverse weather in the autumn and winter.
The contractor will be removing and replacing steel piles, wooden beams, posts, and the navigation light mast and gantry. Beach excavation and recycling work may need to take place on the Denes Beach to the north of the Harbour pier. Please be aware of the use of heavy plant in the area. The work will involve use of a jack-up barge, large cranes, and excavators.
